Press Release 10th September 2008:

Surprise vote saves Aurora

Aurora, Croydon police’s lesbian, gay, bi and transgender (LGBT) consultation group met to debate a motion for closure on Tuesday 9th September. Only half a dozen LGBT people regularly attended meetings so it was felt that Aurora was not representative enough.

The motion was to have been passed with a two thirds majority at two consecutive meetings. But on Tuesday there was an increased attendance, and a clear vote against closure.

As a result there will be changes to attract and involve more LGBT people. So if you’re a Croydon person see www.aurora-croydon.org.uk and think about joining in.
