International Day Against HOmophobia
IDAHO
May 17th 2008
We distributed slices of Aurora's fifth-birthday cake and spoke to people at the Bird in Hand, Sydenham Road, asking about their experience of LGBT-related crime.
We gave out surveys from Victim Support and from Crocus.
Experiences ranged from persistent intimidation of a lesbian couple, and male rape to those who had experienced nothing that they could not face down and deal with themselves.
A few people expressed genuine interest in getting involved with
Aurora and the other local LGBT social and support groups we were
promoting, some of which they never knew existed. (See our Links
pages - from the menu at the top of this page).
